Research and development of new forms of tomato cultivation
At Procam we are focused on finding the best way to grow food in an ecological and sustainable way.
The Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) has granted PROCAM S.C.A. financing for the development of a research project.
The ECOSweet + Research Project (Development of a model for the prediction and improvement of sensory quality of tomatoes under ecological production in greenhouses - IDI-20180548), is an experimental development project that has the challenge of developing an ad hoc tool that allows to predict and assure the sensory characteristics of green tomato grown in the greenhouse, through the modeling of eco-sustainable strategies in the cultivation phase, and the relationship of these with consumer acceptance in the different market scenarios. In this way, it is intended to create a tool to support decision-making during the tomato crop, in order to obtain tomatoes that meet the sensory characteristics demanded.
The project to be developed within a 24-month timeframe beginning in May 2018 will be executed by the entity PROCAM S.C.A. in the province of Motril (Granada), and will have the collaboration of Tecnova Technology Center. The development of the same, will involve the mobilization of a private investment of 240,127 euros. This project is framed within the call of Projects of R & D, subsidized by the CDTI, supported by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and cofinanced with Structural Funds of the European Union (FEDER) within the <<Intelligent Growth Operative Program 2014-2020>>.
